One of the things I’m most proud of from my work on Oddsparks is the landscape tile system. Our goal was to create a procedural world that felt natural and organic, something that is a bit fancier than 90-degree tiles. Collaborating closely with our Code Director, Robert Schneider, we explored a wide range of references to design a flexible tile structure and determine the necessary pieces.
Beyond the layout, I developed a precise workflow to ensure that once the tiles were placed, they blended seamlessly with no visible edges. This involved consistent beveling, normal editing, and vertex painting for the layered material that our Tech Artist Joana Almeida prepared.
